World University Rankings, 2nd Edition 2025 by Cybermetrics Lab, CSIC, Spain
???? The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, initiated in 2004, aims to promote open access to academic knowledge produced by universities worldwide. The latest edition encompasses nearly 32,000 higher education institutions worldwide.
✅ The ranking is based on two key categories of indicators: Webometric Indicators and Bibliometric Indicators, using data from reliable sources such as Majestic, OpenAlex, and Scimago-Scopus.
???? Website data were collected in early July 2025, while bibliometric data cover the period from 2020 to 2024.
???? Ranking Indicators used by Webometrics apply a Composite Scoring Model, combining normalized indicators to ensure fairness and balance. The three main criteria are:
✅ Visibility (50%) – Measured by the number of external referring domains linking to a university’s website, based on Ahrefs.com, reflecting global influence and accessibility.
✅ Transparency (10%) – Assessed from citations of the top 310 researchers (excluding 20 outliers with abnormally high values) using Google Scholar profiles, indicating openness and credibility of academic work.
✅ Excellence (40%) – Evaluated by the number of papers published in the top 10% most cited worldwide during 2019–2023, according to Scopus and Scimago, reflecting the quality and impact of research.
